Practical overview
When it fits
Use it when building or exploring a Python workflow that pairs generated mathematical reasoning samples with PRM-produced responses and scores.
Who it is for
- Python developers prototyping mathematical reasoning and response-scoring workflows
- Researchers exploring process reward models for generated math responses
Documented uses
- Generate math samples from queries using an OpenAI chat client.
- Produce candidate responses with a process reward model.
- Score generated responses and display query-response-score results.
Requirements & limits
The public GitHub repository lists an Apache-2.0 license. The documented PRM example expects an OpenAI API key.
- The example's sample-generation stage uses Swarms OpenAIChat and an OPENAI_API_KEY.
- The README selects CUDA when available and otherwise uses CPU for its PRM device.
- The GPT-4 plus PRM heading is not accompanied by implementation steps, and training or fine-tuning is listed as future work.
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
Set up the documented PRM response-scoring workflow
Install the package and prepare the documented components for generating math samples, producing responses, and scoring them.
Before you start
- Python and pip3
- PyTorch
- An OpenAI API key available as OPENAI_API_KEY
- The README imports Swarms OpenAIChat, MathDataGenerator, and the library's PRM
Steps
Install or upgrade the package with the command below.
pip3 install --upgrade process-supervision-torchLoad OPENAI_API_KEY from the environment and initialize OpenAIChat with that key.
Initialize MathDataGenerator with the chat client and initialize PRM with the model names and device shown in the README.
Use MathDataGenerator to create sample queries, pass them to PRM.generate_responses, then pass the responses to PRM.score_responses.
Expected outcome
The documented workflow returns generated responses and scores that can be displayed alongside their queries.
Guide limitations
- The README does not provide a complete dependency or environment setup beyond the package installation command and code imports.
- Its GPT-4 and PRM integration heading has no usage instructions; integrating them and training or fine-tuning are listed as to-do items.
