Practical overview
When it fits
Use it when a Python application needs programmatic access to Jupiter trading actions or data, and you can provide the relevant Solana RPC and signing setup for transaction operations.
Who it is for
- Python developers building Solana trading workflows with Jupiter.
- Developers retrieving Jupiter token, wallet, order or trade data for a service or dashboard backend.
Documented uses
- Request a swap and prepare its serialized transaction for signing and submission.
- Open limit orders and create or close DCA accounts.
- Retrieve quotes, token-pair and price information, wallet details, statistics and trading data.
Requirements & limits
The repository identifies the project as open source under the MIT license. The README documents installation with pip. It says private-key and RPC-client setup is unnecessary for data retrieval functions, while transaction operations require signing and RPC access.
- The README describes the library as experimental and intended for educational purposes.
- The swap example returns serialized transaction data; signing and sending are separate steps performed with Solana libraries.
- The SDK uses solana-py, solders and anchorpy.
- Custom URLs can be set for Jupiter APIs.
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
Install the SDK and prepare a swap workflow
Install the Python package and configure the documented components for a swap.
Before you start
- Python environment
- Jupiter Python SDK package
- Solana RPC endpoint
- Keypair for signing the swap transaction
Steps
Install the package with the command below.
pip install jupiter-python-sdkCreate an asynchronous Solana client using a Solana RPC endpoint and initialize the Jupiter client with a keypair and the relevant API URLs.
Call the SDK’s
swapfunction with input mint, output mint, amount and slippage basis points.Follow the README example to decode the returned serialized transaction, sign it with the keypair and submit it using the Solana client.
Expected outcome
The documented flow returns swap transaction data and submits a signed transaction through the configured Solana RPC client.
Guide limitations
- The example requires transaction signing and an RPC client; the README says these are not mandatory for data retrieval alone.
- The project describes the library as experimental and for educational purposes.
