Ezigen

EZIGen is an open-source Python research implementation for zero-shot personalized image generation and subject-driven image editing. It combines a subject-image encoder based on Stable Diffusion’s pretrained UNet with decoupled guidance, separating the stages at which text and subject guidance influence generation.

Practical overview

When it fits

Use EZIGen when you need a local research workflow for subject-guided image generation or editing, and can provide the required Python environment, checkpoint and image inputs.

Who it is for

  • Researchers exploring personalized image generation and subject encoding.
  • Developers who want to run the documented inference workflow locally.
  • Creators seeking prompt-guided generation or editing based on a subject reference and willing to work with research code.

Documented uses

  • Generate an image that combines a reference subject with a text-described scene.
  • Edit a source image using a subject reference, a target prompt and a foreground mask.
  • Experiment with guidance settings that balance subject appearance and prompt-driven layout.

Requirements & limits

The repository is public and uses the Apache-2.0 license. The documented workflow requires local setup and a downloaded pretrained checkpoint.

  • The documented stack includes Python 3.10, PyTorch 2.0.1 with CUDA 11.8 wheels, Diffusers 0.30.1 built from source and repository requirements.
  • Inference depends on downloading a pretrained checkpoint and setting its folder path in the configuration.
  • Editing requires a three-channel black-and-white foreground mask with the same height and width as the source image.
  • The README lists SDXL and Flux support as unfinished TODO items.

Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.

Source-based practical guide

Prepare EZIGen for local inference

Set up the documented environment, dependencies and checkpoint path required before running inference.

Before you start

  • Linux environment
  • Git, Conda, Python 3.10 and pip
  • PyTorch 2.0.1, torchvision 0.15.2 and torchaudio 2.0.2 with CUDA 11.8 wheels
  • Diffusers 0.30.1 source archive
  • The provided pretrained checkpoint

Steps

  1. Clone the EZIGen repository and enter its directory.

  2. Create and activate a Conda environment using Python 3.10.

  3. Install the specified PyTorch packages, build Diffusers 0.30.1 from source, then install the repository requirements.

  4. Download and unzip checkpoint-200000.zip, then set its folder path in the inference configuration.

Expected outcome

The documented environment and checkpoint path are prepared for the repository’s inference scripts.

Guide limitations

  • This guide covers setup only; it does not establish that inference ran successfully.
  • The README specifies a CUDA 11.8 PyTorch wheel index.

Configure subject-driven image generation

Use the README’s documented inference inputs and settings to prepare a personalized image-generation run.

Before you start

  • The prepared EZIGen environment and checkpoint path
  • A subject image
  • A subject prompt and a target prompt

Steps

  1. Use the repository’s generation inference script and infer.py entry point with the inference configuration.

  2. Set the subject image path, subject prompt and target prompt.

  3. Set generation parameters such as guidance scale, seed, inference steps, split ratio and similarity threshold.

  4. Set the output root for generated results.

Expected outcome

The documented inputs and parameters are configured for subject-driven image generation.

Guide limitations

  • The guide describes the documented configuration, not a verified execution or output.
  • The README recommends using the correct subject class name in the subject prompt.
