Practical overview
When it fits
Use it when a PHP application needs an interface to documented geth JSON-RPC functions and can reach the node endpoint.
Who it is for
- PHP developers building applications that query Ethereum node RPC methods.
- Developers creating server-side tools for reading node network or client information.
Documented uses
- Call geth JSON-RPC methods from PHP code.
- Retrieve network information using the documented net_version() example.
- Wrap common node RPC calls in PHP developer utilities.
Requirements & limits
- The library connects to geth JSON-RPC, not a separate hosted API.
- The README's example requires an endpoint host and port.
- The repository lists an MIT license and PHP as its primary language.
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
Set up a PHP call to geth JSON-RPC
Include the library, connect to the documented endpoint address, and call the example network method.
Before you start
- A PHP application
- A reachable geth JSON-RPC endpoint
Steps
Include the class file with require 'ethereum.php'.
Create an Ethereum object with the endpoint host and port; the README example uses 127.0.0.1 and 8545.
Call net_version() on the object.
Expected outcome
The example calls the node's net_version RPC method from PHP.
