Ethereum Boilerplate

Ethereum Boilerplate is an MIT-licensed TypeScript and Next.js starter framework with reusable components for building blockchain dApp frontends. Its pages use Moralis Web3 APIs to retrieve blockchain data without requiring developers to operate a separate backend.

Practical overview

When it fits

Use it when building a code-based dApp frontend and Moralis-powered blockchain data components are a useful starting point. Wallet connectivity is needed for authentication, while the documented data pages do not require an active provider.

Who it is for

  • Developers building TypeScript and Next.js dApp interfaces.
  • Teams that want ready-made components for displaying token and NFT balances, transfers or transactions.
  • Builders creating EVM or Moralis-supported Solana applications.

Documented uses

  • Start a blockchain frontend from an existing Next.js structure.
  • Show NFT and ERC-20 balances using Moralis data.
  • Present ERC-20 transfers, NFT transfers and transaction histories.
  • Add wallet-based authentication while keeping data pages usable without an active provider.

Requirements & limits

The repository is public and declares the MIT license. Its quick-start requires a Moralis API key and environment values for the app URL and authentication secret.

  • The starter uses Next.js, TypeScript and Moralis; builders should be comfortable configuring and extending a codebase.
  • The included data components cover balances, transfers and transactions, rather than a complete application specification.
  • Network support for data calls depends on Moralis; consult its supported-chains documentation.
  • A wallet or web3 provider is needed for authentication, but not for the documented data pages.

Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.

Source-based practical guide

Set up the starter and configure its environment

Prepare the Next.js project with the Moralis and authentication environment values required by the quick-start instructions.

Before you start

  • Git
  • Yarn
  • A Moralis Web3 API key
  • An app URL for NEXTAUTH_URL
  • A value for NEXTAUTH_SECRET

Steps

  1. Clone or fork the repository.

  2. Change into the project directory and install dependencies with yarn install.

  3. Rename .env.local.example to .env.local.

  4. Set MORALIS_API_KEY, NEXTAUTH_URL and NEXTAUTH_SECRET in the environment file.

  5. Start the app with yarn start.

Expected outcome

The starter is configured with its documented environment values and the README's start command.

Guide limitations

  • The guide covers the repository's quick-start setup, not customized deployment or application changes.
  • An active web3 provider or wallet is required when using authentication; the documented data pages do not require one.
