Practical overview
When it fits
Consider it when you need a customizable framework to connect an e-commerce workflow to product or documentation data and an AI model.
Who it is for
- Developers building customized AI workflows for e-commerce teams.
- E-commerce teams exploring agent-based product discovery, documentation support, order intake or catalog enrichment.
Documented uses
- Find catalog products from natural-language descriptions.
- Retrieve answers from technical manuals and product documentation.
- Convert scanned purchase orders or notes into e-commerce orders.
- Extract product descriptions, attributes or translations from product sheets.
Requirements & limits
The project is open source under the MIT License. Its README documents installation with or without Docker and links to a live demo.
- Product discovery depends on an indexed e-commerce catalog.
- Manual search is intended to draw answers from technical documentation and manuals.
- The project lists pre-built e-commerce integrations; implementation needs will depend on the team's stack.
- The README describes both Docker and non-Docker installation paths.
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
Install and register the User Manual Search agent
Add the User Manual Search agent to an Enthusiast application so it can answer questions using product manuals.
Before you start
- An Enthusiast application directory; for Enthusiast Starter, use
enthusiast-starter/src. - Poetry available in the application environment.
Steps
From the application directory, run
poetry add enthusiast-agent-user-manual-search.Register the integration in
config/settings_override.pyby addingenthusiast_agent_user_manual_search.UserManualSearchAgenttoAVAILABLE_AGENTS.Use the agent for questions about the manuals; its described answers include citations linking to relevant manual sections and a sanity check against documented information.
Expected outcome
The User Manual Search integration is installed and registered, and is described as supporting context-aware manual answers with citations.
Guide limitations
- The instructions cover installing and registering the integration, but do not document how to provide or index manuals or how to invoke the agent.
- Answer coverage depends on the product manuals; the agent is described as checking answers against documented information.
