Practical overview
When it fits
Use it when an MCP-enabled agent needs structured discovery of Mastercard services or needs to retrieve integration documentation and API operation details during a development workflow.
Who it is for
- Developers building MCP-enabled agent workflows around Mastercard Developers resources.
- Teams that want agents to retrieve Mastercard service documentation and API operation details.
Documented uses
- Discover Mastercard Developers products and services, including their titles, descriptions and service IDs.
- Retrieve documentation overviews, section content and full documentation pages.
- Get OAuth 1.0a, OAuth 2.0 and Open Finance integration guides.
- List API operations and inspect operation parameters, request and response schemas, and technical details.
Requirements & limits
The repository is public and specifies the MIT license. The package setup instructions require Node 18 or later.
- MCP is the currently supported agent framework integration described by the project.
- Choose the standalone server for MCP client use, or the library route for TypeScript/JavaScript integration.
- The toolkit retrieves documentation and API details; it is not described as executing the underlying Mastercard API operations.
- Curated marketplace plugin commands are subject to acceptance into the respective vendor registries; repository-based installation is also documented.
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
Install the toolkit as a TypeScript MCP server
Add the toolkit package to a Node project and connect its MCP server over standard input/output.
Before you start
- Node 18 or later
- A TypeScript or JavaScript project
- The @modelcontextprotocol/sdk package for the shown stdio transport
Steps
Install the package with npm install --save @mastercard/developers-agent-toolkit.
Import MastercardDevelopersAgentToolkit from the package’s /mcp entry point.
Create the toolkit server and a StdioServerTransport from the MCP SDK.
Connect the server to the transport as shown in the repository example.
Expected outcome
A project configured to run the toolkit as an MCP server over stdio.
Guide limitations
- The instructions cover package setup and server connection, not configuration of a particular MCP client.
- No successful execution or client compatibility is asserted.
