Practical overview
When it fits
Use Deepchecks when an ML workflow needs repeatable validation of data or models, or when a team wants checks to support CI review or post-deployment monitoring.
Who it is for
- Data scientists validating datasets and trained models.
- ML engineers adding repeatable checks to development or CI workflows.
- Teams monitoring the behavior of deployed models.
Documented uses
- Run built-in or custom checks and suites against ML data and models.
- Inspect validation workflows for tabular, NLP, or computer-vision data.
- Collaborate on test results and iterate toward production readiness.
- Track and validate deployed-model behavior.
Requirements & limits
The repository documents installation through pip or Conda for testing, and a managed or local deployment option for monitoring. Local monitoring setup is documented for Linux and macOS with Docker; Windows is described as work in progress.
- Testing workflows use Python installation and modality-specific extras for NLP or computer vision.
- The testing quickstarts use data objects appropriate to the modality, such as Dataset, TextData, or VisionData.
- The open-source monitoring deployment is limited to one model per deployment.
- Monitoring is provided as a separate component from the core testing package.
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
Install Deepchecks Testing
Install the Python package used for data and model checks.
Before you start
- A Python package installation environment.
Steps
Install the testing package with the command below.
pip install deepchecks -U --userFor NLP workflows, use the
deepchecks[nlp]extra;deepchecks[nlp-properties]is also noted as an optional extra. For computer-vision workflows, use the
deepchecks[vision]extra.
Expected outcome
The Deepchecks Testing package and, where selected, its modality-specific extras are installed.
Guide limitations
- The installation commands cover package setup, not the execution of checks.
- The project also documents a Conda installation route.
Install a local Deepchecks Monitoring instance
Set up the documented self-hosted monitoring application.
Before you start
- Linux or macOS.
- Docker.
- A terminal opened in a new directory for the installation files.
Steps
Install the installer with the command below.
pip install deepchecks-installerRun
deepchecks-installer install-monitoring.Open the deployment URL, defaulting to
http://localhost, and begin system onboarding.
Expected outcome
The installer downloads dependencies, runs installation, and starts the local monitoring application.
Guide limitations
- Windows support is described as work in progress.
- Each open-source deployment supports monitoring one model.
