Source-based practical guide

Import a watch-only wallet into Cove

Add a wallet for viewing Bitcoin addresses and activity without importing a hot-wallet key.

Before you start

  • Cove on iOS or Android
  • An xpub, public descriptor, or key expression for the wallet
  • A way to provide it by NFC, file, or QR code

Steps

  1. Open Cove on a mobile device.

  2. Import a watch-only wallet using its xpub, public descriptor, or key expression.

  3. Provide the wallet information using NFC, a file, or a QR code.

Expected outcome

The watch-only wallet is available for inspection; Cove lists address and transaction details and supports viewing UTXOs.

Guide limitations

  • The documented import methods are limited to NFC, files, or QR codes.
  • A watch-only import is not described as a way to sign transactions.
