Practical overview
When it fits
Use it when coding-agent work spans sessions or subagents and you want a local view of activity, status, orchestration, and token costs. Choose the source setup for development and customization, a desktop app for persistent macOS or Windows use, or a container route for isolated local or server deployments.
Who it is for
- Developers monitoring sessions from Claude Code, Cursor, or OpenAI Codex.
- People who need to inspect agent tool use, orchestration, and usage costs.
- Teams or individual builders seeking a local dashboard with CLI or MCP-based automation options.
Documented uses
- Follow agent conversations and tool activity in real time.
- Inspect subagent hierarchies and orchestration.
- Review token usage and costs across sessions.
- Track agent status on a Kanban-style board and receive status notifications.
- Query dashboard information or perform guarded operations through the CLI or local MCP server.
Requirements & limits
The repository is public and licensed under MIT. The documented source setup requires Node.js 22.22 or newer and npm 9 or newer. The project lists web, macOS, Windows, Docker or Podman, and Kubernetes or Terraform run paths.
- The named agent ecosystems are Claude Code, Cursor, and OpenAI Codex.
- The source quick start launches a local development UI at port 5173; production instructions use port 4820.
- The documented stack includes SQLite, Node.js, Express, React, Vite, Tailwind CSS, and WebSockets.
- The project distinguishes source checkout, desktop app, containers, production infrastructure, and MCP sidecar options.
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
Set up the local development dashboard
Install the documented source-checkout dependencies and open the development dashboard locally.
Before you start
- Node.js 22.22 or newer
- npm 9 or newer
Steps
Clone the repository and change into its directory.
Run the command below to install dependencies, build the MCP server, and link the
ccamCLI.npm run setupRun the command below.
npm run devOpen
http://localhost:5173and follow the dashboard prompt to install hooks for selected providers.
Expected outcome
The development dashboard is available locally, with provider hooks addressed through the first-launch prompt.
Guide limitations
- This is the source-checkout development path; it is distinct from the documented production build and desktop-app routes.
