Understand the project

Practical overview

When it fits

Use it to study or adapt its Brownie-based Chainlink examples, particularly for local development. Consider the repository’s maintenance warning before choosing it as the basis for new work.

Who it is for

  • Ethereum developers seeking Brownie-based Chainlink contract examples.
  • Learners exploring local smart-contract workflows or Sepolia testnet deployment.

Documented uses

  • Start a Python project for working with Chainlink smart contracts.
  • Explore contract workflows involving Price Feeds, VRF, API calls and Automation.
  • Deploy and test contracts on a local Ganache chain or Sepolia, following the repository instructions.
Before you choose

Requirements & limits

  • The documented stack includes Solidity, Python, eth-brownie, Node.js/npm and, for local testing, Ganache.
  • The README sets Sepolia as the default testnet and describes Infura project credentials, a wallet private key, and testnet ETH and LINK for testnet deployment.
  • The project warns that Brownie is no longer maintained by its creators and that the repository is not actively maintained.
  • The README recommends Chainlink Hardhat or Foundry starter kits for most use cases, but does not provide a direct migration path from this code.

Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.

Source-based practical guide

Set up the Chainlink Mix project

Create a project from the mix and install its Python dependencies.

Before you start

  • Node.js and npm
  • Python
  • eth-brownie

Steps

  1. Install eth-brownie using the README’s pipx or pip instructions.

  2. Run brownie bake chainlink-mix.

  3. Enter the new project directory with cd chainlink-mix.

  4. Install dependencies with the command below.

    Documented command
    pip install -r requirements.txt

Expected outcome

A Chainlink project based on the repository template, with its listed Python dependencies installed.

Guide limitations

  • The repository uses eth-brownie, which its README says is no longer maintained by its creators; the repository is not actively maintained either.
