Practical overview
When it fits
Use it when mobile self-custody needs to span Bitcoin, Liquid and Lightning, especially when fee-aware transaction selection, UTXO control, watch-only wallets or offline signing are relevant.
Who it is for
- Bitcoin users who want private keys generated and kept on their device.
- People managing both Bitcoin and Liquid assets from one mobile wallet.
- Users who need Lightning payments, UTXO controls or offline-signing workflows.
- Developers evaluating an open-source Dart wallet under the MIT license.
Documented uses
- Hold and manage Bitcoin and Liquid assets with user-controlled keys.
- Send and receive Bitcoin, Liquid and Lightning payments.
- Exchange value across Bitcoin, Lightning and Liquid through atomic swaps.
- Manage fees, UTXOs, labels and transaction replacement settings.
- Prepare and broadcast PSBT-based offline-signing transactions.
Requirements & limits
The project is presented as a public GitHub repository with an MIT license. The README documents Android and iOS mobile targets through the project’s mobile application context; no pricing or account requirement is supplied.
- One mnemonic generates both the Secure Bitcoin Wallet and Instant Payments Wallet.
- Private keys are generated on-device and stored in application secure storage.
- Lightning payments are supported through the swap provider rather than as a separate wallet network described in the README.
- Fee estimates come from a Mempool instance and can be adjusted with four presets.
- Watch-only wallets support PSBT creation for offline signing and broadcasting of signed PSBTs.
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
Create and verify the wallet backup
Set up the app’s two wallets and confirm the mnemonic backup before using the wallet.
Before you start
- A mobile device running the application.
- A safe way to record the generated mnemonic seed.
Steps
Initialize the app to generate the Secure Bitcoin Wallet and Instant Payments Wallet from one mnemonic seed.
Record the mnemonic backup.
Enter the mnemonic when prompted to test the backup.
Expected outcome
The app’s backup warning is cleared after the mnemonic is successfully entered.
Guide limitations
- The supplied documentation describes wallet initialization and backup testing but does not document a complete transaction procedure.
