Practical overview
When it fits
Use it when a C# application needs Binance WebSocket events that the README marks as covered, especially trade or order-book updates, and a reactive subscription interface fits the application.
Who it is for
- C# developers integrating Binance market-data streams into software.
- Teams building monitors, dashboards, or event-forwarding services around supported Binance WebSocket data.
- Developers seeking a file-based communicator for simulated playback in backtesting workflows.
Documented uses
- Subscribe to trade updates for selected Binance symbols and consume each event in application code.
- Integrate supported aggregate-trade, partial or differential order-book, and private order-update events.
- Use a communicator abstraction to separate client logic from realtime WebSocket communication or file-based raw-data playback.
Requirements & limits
The library is published through NuGet, and its public repository specifies the Apache License 2.0.
- The README identifies coverage for aggregate trades, trades, partial and differential order books, and order updates; several other listed streams are unchecked.
- The documented subscription model uses Rx.NET observables, with handlers called synchronously by default; slow processing can block reception and risk message loss.
- A one-minute default reconnection timeout is described for periods without messages; low-rate channels may need a longer timeout or periodic pings.
- The project targets .NET Standard 2.0 and 2.1 and .NET 6 through .NET 10, and uses Websocket.Client for transport and reconnection.
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
Subscribe to Binance trade updates in a C# application
Connect through the library and consume trade updates for selected symbols.
Before you start
- A C#/.NET application targeting one of the listed frameworks.
- The Binance.Client.Websocket NuGet package.
- A Binance WebSocket URL, using BinanceValues.ApiWebsocketUrl as shown in the README.
Steps
Create a BinanceWebsocketCommunicator with the WebSocket URL and a BinanceWebsocketClient using that communicator.
Subscribe to client.Streams.TradesStream and read each response’s Data value.
Call SetSubscriptions with TradeSubscription entries for the desired symbols.
Start the communicator and keep the application running to receive updates.
Expected outcome
The application receives trade responses for its selected symbols; the README example prints each trade’s symbol and price.
Guide limitations
- This recipe follows the documented example and does not establish that it was independently executed.
- The README warns that slow subscription handlers can block message reception, buffer messages, and risk losing messages.
- The library’s listed API coverage is selective; verify that the stream required by your application is marked covered.
