Practical overview
When it fits
Use it when a Python workflow needs Binance market data or exchange trading connected to Backtrader, especially for moving between historical-data experiments and strategy backtests.
Who it is for
- Python developers building or testing Backtrader strategies with Binance data.
- Quantitative traders who want examples for historical data retrieval, backtesting or exchange-connected execution.
Documented uses
- Download historical cryptocurrency data from Binance for analysis or strategy use.
- Backtest a Backtrader strategy against historical Binance market data.
- Explore examples for multi-symbol strategies, timeframes and resampling.
- Connect a strategy to Binance for automated live trading and order handling.
Requirements & limits
The repository is public and specifies the MIT license. Running its Binance examples requires an API key and secret configured in the documented settings file.
- The integration uses python-binance for its Binance API connection and Backtrader for strategy workflows.
- The README lists python-binance, backtrader, pandas and matplotlib as dependencies.
- Examples include CSV export, asset balance and information retrieval, multiple symbols, timeframe resampling and sample order placement.
- The README describes live-trading examples that can place real market or limit orders; live execution is separate from historical backtesting.
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
