Avibe

Avibe is a Python-based local control tool for running Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode and its built-in Vibey agent, then steering them through a browser Workbench or connected chat apps. Its Workbench combines agent chat with file, editor and terminal windows, while a local gateway can route configured model sources to supported agents.

Practical overview

When it fits

Use Avibe when you want browser or chat-based control of coding agents that run on your own machine, or want a Workbench that places agent chat beside development tools.

Who it is for

  • Developers who use Claude Code, Codex or OpenCode and want to steer those agents away from their local terminal.
  • Users who want a browser workspace combining agent chat with files, an editor and a terminal.
  • Developers managing more than one model source or coding-agent tool through Avibe's local gateway.

Documented uses

  • Start and steer coding-agent sessions running on a local machine.
  • Inspect agent work and interact with files, an editor and a terminal in the Workbench.
  • Reach agent sessions through supported chat integrations.
  • Configure model sources in one hub and route them to agents using gateway mode.

Requirements & limits

The repository is public, open source and licensed under MIT. The README specifies Python 3.10 or later and recommends WSL on Windows.

  • Agent processes and workspace files are described as staying on the user's machine.
  • The Workbench combines chat, files, an editor and a terminal in the browser.
  • The README lists browser, Slack, Discord, Telegram, WeChat and Lark as access interfaces.
  • Gateway mode routes model requests through configured sources; a subscription left to its own CLI serves only that CLI.

Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.

Source-based practical guide

Install Avibe and open its setup wizard on macOS or Linux

Install the local Avibe CLI, check the installation, and start the service and setup wizard.

Before you start

  • A macOS or Linux machine where Avibe, its data, and coding agents can run.
  • Terminal access.

Steps

  1. Run the command below to install Avibe.

    Documented command
    curl -fsSL https://avibe.bot/install.sh | bash
  2. Run vibe version and vibe doctor to verify the installation.

  3. Run vibe to start the service and setup wizard in the browser.

Expected outcome

Avibe is installed, the CLI checks have been run, and the service and browser setup wizard are started.

Guide limitations

  • The setup wizard handles model credentials; chat platform credentials are configured separately in Settings > Messaging Platforms.
  • The installer is a shell script. The documentation recommends inspecting it before running it if you prefer to audit it first.
