Apexalgo

Apexalgo is an open-source, self-hosted cryptocurrency trading application that lets users assemble strategies in a visual node editor, backtest them and operate bots through exchange connectivity. Its documented stack combines a Python and FastAPI backend, a React interface and CCXT integration, with charting, bot monitoring and risk-control features.

Practical overview

When it fits

Use Apexalgo when you want a locally deployed workspace for building and evaluating systematic crypto strategies, then monitoring bots through a charting and analytics interface.

Who it is for

  • People building rule-based cryptocurrency strategies with a visual editor.
  • Users who want to backtest ideas and manage simulated, paper or live bot execution in one application.
  • Developers or operators comfortable deploying a self-hosted application with Docker or a documented manual setup.

Documented uses

  • Assemble entry and exit rules from indicators, conditions, logic gates and order-routing nodes.
  • Evaluate strategies through backtesting or simulated forward testing.
  • Connect exchange market data and run bots in paper or live execution modes.
  • Inspect chart overlays, bot console events and trading analytics.
  • Configure risk blocks such as stop-loss and take-profit controls.

Requirements & limits

The repository is public and identifies the project as open source under AGPL-3.0. It documents Docker and manual installation; the Docker quick start requires Docker Desktop.

  • The project describes itself as beta quality and directs new users to its beta setup and live-trading safety guidance.
  • The Docker route requires Docker Desktop; manual installation lists Python 3.11+, Node.js 18+, mkcert and screen.
  • CCXT integration is documented, but the evidence does not verify individual exchange transaction paths.
  • The repository describes three execution modes: simulated forward test, sandbox-based paper trading and live exchange execution.
  • Exchange credentials are described as encrypted at rest; users should consider credential handling and deployment configuration when deciding whether to connect an exchange account.

Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.

Source-based practical guide

Set up Apexalgo with Docker

Start the documented Docker services and open the local web interface.

Before you start

  • Docker Desktop

Steps

  1. Clone the ApexAlgo repository from GitHub.

  2. Change into the cloned ApexAlgo directory.

  3. Run the command below.

    Documented command
    docker compose up -d
  4. Open https://localhost:5173 in a browser and accept the first-visit self-signed certificate warning.

Expected outcome

The web interface and backend services start locally; the documented web UI address is https://localhost:5173.

Guide limitations

  • The first start builds images and compiles the frontend and may take about two minutes.
  • The published ports bind to 127.0.0.1 by default, so access is limited to the local machine unless LAN access is configured.
  • The setup instructions require accepting a self-signed certificate warning on the first browser visit.
