Practical overview
When it fits
Use Ai4U when the task is to structure agents inside a Godot game or virtual environment and connect their observations and actions to an AI workflow.
Who it is for
- Godot developers designing reinforcement-learning-driven NPCs.
- Researchers or developers creating game and virtual environments for AI experiments.
- Python users connecting Godot environments with Stable-Baselines or PyTorch.
- C# Godot developers seeking the documented ONNX model integration.
Documented uses
- Define what information an agent senses and how it acts on a Godot environment.
- Model NPCs using reusable agent components.
- Connect a Godot environment to reinforcement-learning experiments using reward functions and events.
- Use Python components with the documented Stable-Baselines or PyTorch integration.
- Set up ONNX model support through the C# integration.
Requirements & limits
The GitHub repository is public and specifies an MIT license.
- The framework's reference implementation targets Godot.
- Both Python and C# components are described, but their setup paths differ.
- The README lists Godot 4.2.2, 4.3, 4.4 and 4.5 (.NET version), Python 3.12 and Gymnasium as requirements.
- Stable-Baselines or PyTorch integration uses the separate ai4u-ml package.
- ONNX model support uses an additional Ai4U package and Microsoft ML dependencies in a Godot C# solution.
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
Install the Python components and ML integration
Install Ai4U’s Python package and, if needed, its Stable-Baselines or PyTorch integration package.
Before you start
- Python 3.12 is listed in the project requirements.
Steps
Install the stable Python scripts with pip install ai4u.
If using Stable-Baselines or PyTorch integration, install the separate package with pip install ai4u-ml.
Expected outcome
The Ai4U Python package is installed, with its documented ML integration package added when required.
Guide limitations
- The README lists Gymnasium among the project requirements.
- This covers package installation, not creating or training an agent.
