Agentdock

AgentDock is a public GitHub repository for an AI-agent framework that its current description marks as retired. Its README documents an earlier TypeScript, backend-first framework with a node-based design and a Next.js reference client. The repository points prompt and document-generation resources to AgentDock’s prompt-library repository and the AI agents book to a separate repository.

Understand the project

Practical overview

When it fits

Use the repository to understand AgentDock’s earlier framework approach or to follow its pointers to prompts, document generators and the AI agents book. Treat its setup instructions as historical because the repository marks the framework retired.

Who it is for

  • Developers reviewing AgentDock’s earlier agent-framework architecture and examples.
  • Readers looking for the project’s prompt and document-generation resources or AI agents book.

Documented uses

  • Review an earlier framework design based on agent nodes, specialized tool nodes and configurable use of LLM inference.
  • Follow the repository’s references to the separate prompt-library and AI agents book repositories.
  • Consult the README’s documented setup requirements and installation sequence as historical project instructions.

Requirements & limits

The GitHub repository is public and displays an MIT license.

  • The repository description explicitly says the framework is retired; it does not establish current framework support or runtime platform compatibility.
  • The README lists Node.js 20.11.0 or later, pnpm 9.15.0 or later, and at least one LLM-provider API key for its setup path.
  • The README describes a separate Next.js client as a reference implementation and consumer of AgentDock Core.
  • Prompts and document generators, and the AI agents book, are directed to separate repositories.

Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.

Source-based practical guide

Prepare the AgentDock repository for local development

Install the repository dependencies and configure provider credentials in an environment file.

Before you start

  • Node.js 20.11.0 or later (LTS)
  • pnpm 9.15.0 or later
  • At least one LLM provider API key, such as Anthropic or OpenAI

Steps

  1. Clone the AgentDock repository and change into its directory: the command below then cd AgentDock.

    Documented command
    git clone https://github.com/AgentDock/AgentDock.git
  2. Enable Corepack and activate pnpm: corepack enable then corepack prepare pnpm@latest --activate.

  3. Install dependencies with pnpm install.

  4. Create .env.local or .env from .env.example using cp .env.example .env.local or cp .env.example .env, then add at least one LLM provider API key.

Expected outcome

The repository dependencies are installed and an environment file is configured with an LLM provider key, preparing for the documented development-server step.

Guide limitations

  • The repository is described as retired; its current framework capabilities and runtime support are not established.
  • This recipe covers setup only; it does not start the development server or validate the configured credentials.
