Practical overview
When it fits
Use it when implementing wallet operations in a React Native application and when its documented branch and credential-handling approach suit the project.
Who it is for
- React Native developers building wallet applications.
- Teams choosing between the repository’s documented ethers 5.x, ethers 6.x and Bitcoin branches.
Documented uses
- Create a wallet and work with a keystore or mnemonic.
- Import or export wallet material and obtain wallet signers.
- Query balances, gas information and nonces.
- Sign messages or transactions, send transactions and call contract-related utilities.
Requirements & limits
- The main branch supports ethers 5.x; the ether6.x branch supports ethers 6.x; the Bitcoin branch uses bitcoinjs.
- The README lists npm installation dependencies and an npx pod-install step.
- The project describes password-protected local keystore or mnemonic storage and separately cautions against storing mnemonic phrases or private keys locally.
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
Install the module and listed React Native dependencies
Add the library and its documented dependencies to a React Native project.
Before you start
- A React Native project
- Node.js package installation tools
- For the documented pod-install step, an iOS project environment
Steps
Install the module from its GitHub repository with npm.
Install @ethersproject/shims and react-native-get-random-values.
Run npx pod-install.
Expected outcome
The library and the listed dependencies are added to the project, with the documented iOS pod-install step run.
Guide limitations
- This covers installation only; the README usage section is needed for implementing wallet operations.
- The README lists separate branches for ethers 5.x, ethers 6.x and Bitcoin.
