Practical overview
When it fits
Use it when developing Aptos name-service functionality and you need the repository’s Move contracts or its documented testnet deployment and setup workflow.
Who it is for
- Aptos developers building name-resolution or address-to-name lookup features.
- Move developers who need to test or deploy the contracts to Aptos testnet.
Documented uses
- Build an Aptos name-resolution service around the contracts.
- Create a registry for resolving addresses to names.
- Deploy the contracts and initialize the reverse-lookup registry and router on testnet.
Requirements & limits
- The code is written in Move and targets the Aptos ecosystem.
- The README distinguishes current development, mainnet and testnet branches.
- The documented deployment and setup sequence is for testnet and uses Aptos CLI profiles plus repository scripts.
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
Deploy and set up the contracts on Aptos testnet
Publish the contracts to testnet and initialize the reverse-lookup registry and router using the repository’s documented scripts.
Before you start
- Aptos CLI, for the documented
aptos initstep. - The repository’s
move_publish.shandtestnet_setup.shscripts.
Steps
Run
aptos initto create a profile.Update the target address and profile in
move_publish.sh.Run
./sh_scripts/move_publish.shto deploy.Set the same addresses in
testnet_setup.sh, then run./sh_scripts/testnet_setup.sh.
Expected outcome
The setup script initializes the reverse-lookup registry, switches the router to V1+V2 mode and sets testnet metadata URLs.
Guide limitations
- This guide covers the documented testnet workflow; it does not describe mainnet deployment steps.
- The README requires addresses in the setup configuration to match those used for deployment.
