Understand the project

Practical overview

When it fits

Use Wardgraph when an Ethereum investigation benefits from viewing address relationships as a graph and checking exposure to entities or categorized addresses.

Who it is for

  • Compliance analysts investigating Ethereum address relationships and exposure.
  • Developers seeking an open-source React graph interface to adapt for blockchain investigations.

Documented uses

  • Visualize interactions between Ethereum addresses.
  • Assess direct and indirect exposure to mapped exchanges, mixers and risk categories.
  • Review API-derived risk scores and activity associated with other entities.

Requirements & limits

The local development setup requires a Ward Analytics API key. The README says interested contributors or people wishing to try the project can request a key.

  • The documented currently supported blockchain is Ethereum; other named chains are roadmap items.
  • The graph and risk information depend on Ward Analytics API data and a configured API key.
  • The public repository is licensed under Apache-2.0 and uses TypeScript, React, ReactFlow, TailwindCSS and Vite.

Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.

Source-based practical guide

Set up Wardgraph for local development

Install the application dependencies and configure the Ward Analytics API connection before starting the development server.

Before you start

  • Yarn
  • A Ward Analytics API key
  • The Wardgraph repository

Steps

  1. Clone or otherwise obtain the Wardgraph repository.

  2. Create a .env file from the .env.example template.

  3. Set VITE_WARD_API_BASE_URL to https://wardanalyticsapi.com and provide your key as VITE_WARD_API_KEY.

  4. Run yarn install, then yarn dev.

Expected outcome

The development server starts with the configured Ward Analytics API connection.

Guide limitations

  • The README describes this as a development setup, not a production deployment procedure.
  • The API key is available by request according to the project instructions.
