Practical overview
When it fits
Use it as a focused pattern scan before or during manual Solidity code review, or to produce a Markdown record of findings.
Who it is for
- Solidity developers reviewing contract source code.
- Code4rena contest participants who want to surface the issue patterns covered by the analyzer.
Documented uses
- Scan Solidity files for documented low-risk issue and gas-optimization patterns.
- Review findings in the terminal with source locations and issue identifiers.
- Save scan results as a Markdown report.
Requirements & limits
The public GitHub repository lists the project under the GPL-3.0 license. The README requires the Go toolchain for installation or building.
- The checks are regular-expression-based and limited to documented patterns; they do not constitute a comprehensive contract security assessment.
- The
-sflag saves findings as a Markdown report; otherwise, the README shows terminal output. - The tool is a Go CLI that accepts file paths or directories.
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
Scan Solidity files and save a Markdown report
Run C4Udit against Solidity files and request a report file.
Before you start
- C4Udit installed or built
- Solidity source files or a directory containing them
Steps
Run
c4udit [files...]with the file paths or directory to analyze.Add the
-sflag to save the report as a Markdown file.
Expected outcome
C4Udit prints findings and, with `-s`, creates a Markdown report.
Guide limitations
- The analyzer checks documented regular-expression patterns; its output is limited to the issue and optimization patterns it covers.
