Practical overview
When it fits
Use it from a Cairo contract project when you need to verify the contract ABI for accurate Starkscan explorer information.
Who it is for
- Cairo developers deploying or maintaining contracts on Starknet.
- Developers using Starkscan who want contract transactions and events decoded against a verified ABI.
Documented uses
- Verify a Cairo contract ABI so Starkscan can present accurate contract information.
- Support human-readable decoding of contract transactions and events.
- Provide accurate ABI information for reading and writing contract state through Starkscan.
Requirements & limits
The documented interface is a CLI invoked with npx or installed globally through npm. Nile and Protostar users have specified prerequisites.
- Choose the npx invocation or global npm installation based on how you want to launch the CLI.
- Nile users should activate their Python virtual environment; Protostar users should run protostar install first.
- The README explains the purpose and invocation but not the verification interaction or error handling.
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
Start the verifier from a Cairo project
Invoke the Starkscan CLI from a project directory to verify a Cairo contract ABI.
Before you start
- A Cairo contract project directory.
- For Nile-based Python projects, an activated virtual environment.
- For Protostar projects, run protostar install before using the tool.
- Either npx or npm available for the documented invocation.
Steps
From the project directory, run npx starkscan; or install the package globally with npm install -g starkscan.
If using the global installation, run starkscan from the project directory.
Expected outcome
The documented CLI invocation starts the ABI verification tool for the project; the documentation links verification to accurate contract information and decoded transactions and events on Starkscan.
Guide limitations
- The README does not describe the verification prompts, required contract inputs, or how to resolve verification errors.
