Practical overview
When it fits
Use it when you want a desktop view of selected exchange pairs or DEX tokens and alerts for price movements, rather than relying only on a quick chart or manual price checks.
Who it is for
- Desktop users who want to follow selected cryptocurrency trading pairs in one dashboard.
- Users tracking DEX tokens across networks such as Solana, Ethereum and BNB Smart Chain.
- Developers interested in a Python and PyQt6 implementation of a crypto price monitor.
Documented uses
- Monitor prices for selected OKX and Binance trading pairs.
- Track DEX token prices and metadata across supported networks.
- View price movements with mini charts.
- Set threshold or step alerts for price levels, intervals or percentage changes.
- Open a pair’s trading page in a browser from its dashboard card.
Requirements & limits
The repository provides releases for users and is licensed under AGPL-3.0. The project says Windows is the only tested platform; macOS and Linux compatibility has not been verified.
- Exchange-pair updates are documented from OKX and Binance over WebSockets; DEX token prices and metadata are sourced through DexScreener.
- The alert system supports threshold conditions and step-based intervals or percentage changes, with native notifications and optional sounds.
- Python 3.10+, PyQt6 and QFluentWidgets are the documented stack; the README gives uv run main.py as the developer run command.
- Built-in proxy support is listed for restricted network environments.
- Windows is the only tested platform according to the project documentation.
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
