Practical overview
When it fits
Use Ltx Desktop when you want an LTX-based generation and editing workflow in a desktop app, and can meet the local hardware requirements or use API mode.
Who it is for
- Creators who want to generate video from text prompts, images or audio in a desktop application.
- Users with supported NVIDIA or Apple Silicon hardware who want local generation.
- Users whose hardware does not support local generation and who can use the app's API mode.
Documented uses
- Generate video from a text prompt, image or audio input.
- Make video edits such as Retake or Extend using supported model and generation modes.
- Use local LoRAs to steer local video generation toward a style or subject.
- Generate images from text or edit images.
Requirements & limits
The app is open source under the Apache-2.0 license. API mode is available; API-only Pro models are identified as paid cloud generation. Local use requires model downloads, and gated LTX 2.5 weights may require Hugging Face sign-in and license acceptance.
- Local generation requires at least 15 GiB VRAM on Windows or Linux with CUDA, or 32 GiB total RAM on Apple Silicon; Intel Macs do not support local generation.
- The LTX 2.5 Fast core pack needs about 72 GB of free disk space, and broader model installs need more.
- LTX 2.5 Fast is the default local model; LTX 2.3 Fast retains local Retake and Extend support.
- LTX 2.5 Pro and LTX 2.3 Pro are API-only; API Pro generation is paid cloud generation.
- LoRAs apply to local generation, not API mode.
