Practical overview
When it fits
Use LNp2pBot when the trade needs to be coordinated in Telegram and the parties can confirm the fiat transfer before Lightning invoices are settled. Operators can consult its repository when preparing a self-hosted setup.
Who it is for
- Telegram users seeking to trade Bitcoin with other people using Lightning and fiat transfers.
- Telegram group administrators who want to facilitate member-to-member Bitcoin trading.
- Developers or operators interested in hosting or adapting the bot from its public source code.
Documented uses
- Publish or accept a buy or sell order pairing a Bitcoin amount with a fiat amount.
- Coordinate fiat-payment confirmation before releasing the associated Lightning payment.
- Facilitate peer-to-peer Bitcoin trading within a Telegram community.
- Prepare the documented services and credentials needed to install the bot.
Requirements & limits
The README says users need a Telegram account with a username and must start the bot. Operating a self-hosted instance requires the documented supporting services and credentials.
- The described trading flow depends on both parties confirming the fiat transfer; disputes are referred to a human solver.
- If a party does not confirm within the configured period, the bot can send the case information to an administrator.
- The repository is public and marked MIT-licensed; the described implementation uses TypeScript and connects to LND.
- Group administrators are described as eligible for transaction commissions and able to offer discounts on bot fees.
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
