Practical overview
When it fits
Use it when beginning a React-based dApp and you want an existing wallet-integration foundation to adapt, rather than setting up the starter stack and connections from scratch.
Who it is for
- Developers building Ethereum or other Web3 dApps with React and TypeScript.
- Teams seeking a starting codebase for wallet connections, chain selection and token queries.
Documented uses
- Start a React and TypeScript dApp project with wallet connectivity in place.
- Add wallet balance display, message signing and native-token transfer flows.
- Query ERC-20 token balances, allowances, decimals and symbols.
Requirements & limits
The repository is public and identifies the project as MIT-licensed. Local setup requires the listed development tools, a browser wallet, an Infura API key and a WalletConnect project ID.
- The documented stack is React 18, TypeScript 5, @web3-react/core v8 and Ant Design.
- Wallet options listed include MetaMask, WalletConnect and Coinbase.
- The README warns that @web3-react v8 package versions may require manual alignment.
- NFT querying is listed as unfinished.
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
Set up the WEB3 Boilerplate development project
Prepare the starter locally and launch its documented development server.
Before you start
- Node.js (the README says development used LTS v18)
- TypeScript (the README says development used v5.2.2)
- Yarn
- MetaMask or another Web3-compatible browser wallet
- An Infura API key and a WalletConnect v2 project ID
Steps
Clone the repository into a new project directory.
Install dependencies with Yarn and check that the @web3-react packages use matching versions.
Create a root-level .env file from .env.example and fill in the required API key and WalletConnect project ID.
Run the development server with yarn start.
Expected outcome
A locally started development project based on the Web3 Boilerplate template.
Guide limitations
- The README notes that @web3-react v8 package versions may not be installed at matching versions automatically.
- The README marks NFT-query support as unfinished and describes the project as work in progress.
Compare options for Wallet connections
These projects document a common task and share a project role. This is a source-based comparison, not an execution benchmark or a guarantee of interchangeability.
