Install ollmcp and add an MCP server

Install the terminal client, register a documented STDIO MCP server, and start the interface.

Before you start

  • Python 3.11 or newer
  • Ollama running locally with at least one available model
  • uv package manager
  • Node.js tooling available for the documented Playwright server command

Steps

  1. Install the client with the command below.

    uv tool install --upgrade ollmcp

  2. Add the example server with ollmcp mcp add playwright -- npx @playwright/mcp@latest.

  3. Run ollmcp to start the client.

Expected outcome

The client starts with the configured Playwright MCP server available for connection.
