Practical overview

When it fits

Use Orchestkit when you want a reusable development toolkit inside Claude Code, especially if your workflow benefits from repository-aware setup, specialist agents or automated checks. Choose a host-specific installation path when using another coding assistant, since feature coverage differs by host.

Who it is for

  • Developers using Claude Code who want reusable, task-specific guidance and specialist agents in coding workflows.
  • Teams configuring coding assistants around repository conventions, testing, security or review tasks.
  • Users of other documented coding hosts who want to install a supported subset of Orchestkit skills or plugin components.

Documented uses

  • Add reusable instructions for development tasks such as API work, testing, security and database design.
  • Route implementation or review work to specialized agent roles.
  • Run workflow hooks for checks such as pre-commit validation and Git protection in Claude Code.
  • Scan a repository and configure skill recommendations and MCP settings with the setup wizard.
Before you choose

Requirements & limits

The repository is public and advertises an MIT license. Claude Code is listed as requiring version 2.1.277 or later. The project documents CLI installation and skills.sh distribution; no service price is stated.

  • The full plugin is documented for Claude Code; Cursor receives the plugin without Claude hook scripts, while other integrations expose varying subsets.
  • Context7 is not included. It is a prerequisite for tools granted to 22 agents and must be configured separately in the user's MCP settings.
  • Memory and Sequential Thinking are recommended MCP servers; Tavily is optional.
  • The repository publishes different skill and hook totals in different sections, so catalog counts should not be treated as a fixed specification.
  • The repository documents both stable ork and ork-alpha installation lines.

Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
