Practical overview

When it fits

Use Bili Note when you want to turn Bilibili learning material into reusable Markdown notes and preserve the underlying text, media and evidence for later review or knowledge-base retrieval.

Who it is for

  • Learners who want structured notes from Bilibili courses, technical videos, opinion videos or multi-part series.
  • People maintaining a knowledge base that needs searchable source text, subtitles, images, comments and evidence references.
  • Agent users who want Bilibili learning material prepared for later retrieval and question answering.

Documented uses

  • Convert a Bilibili video or post link into a structured Markdown learning note.
  • Preserve subtitles or post text, images, comments, metadata and evidence references alongside the note.
  • Include useful comment discussion and source-linked evidence for reviewing claims.
  • Add optional keyframe context when sparse subtitles miss visual material such as slides, code or software demonstrations.
Before you choose

Requirements & limits

  • Basic extraction requires Python 3.10 or later and Bilibili network access.
  • The subtitle route depends on available public subtitles or configured browser-based web AI subtitles.
  • Transcription uses additional, language-dependent backends; the README describes Qwen3-ASR for Chinese or unspecified-language videos and Whisper-family backends for explicitly foreign-language videos.
  • Keyframe understanding is optional, requires FFmpeg, accessible video and a vision model, and uses additional visual-input tokens.
  • The project is open source under the MIT license.

Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.

Source-based practical guide

Extract a Bilibili video or post into notes

Use the documented Agent workflow to request extraction of a Bilibili video or image-text post, with an optional save location.

Before you start

  • An Agent workflow that can install and use the Bili Note skill.
  • Python 3.10 or later and network access to Bilibili for basic extraction.
  • A Bilibili video or image-text post link.

Steps

  1. Ask the Agent to install the skill from https://github.com/Rimagination/bili-note.

  2. Send the Agent a Bilibili video or image-text post link and request extraction.

  3. If needed, explicitly ask to include useful comments and specify a folder path for saving the output.

  4. For a video, respond to the Agent's prompt about whether to enable keyframe visual understanding.

Expected outcome

A learning-oriented Markdown note and an archive of source materials, with the contents depending on the available extraction routes and selected options.

Guide limitations

  • Sparse subtitles can leave visual information uncovered unless keyframe understanding is enabled and its requirements are available.
  • Keyframe understanding uses additional visual-input tokens.
  • Browser subtitle, transcription and download routes require their respective environment dependencies.

Check which subtitle and transcription routes are available

Use the documented environment-check workflow to identify available extraction capabilities before a first use, a machine change, or troubleshooting subtitles.

Before you start

  • An Agent workflow able to run the Bili Note environment-check script.
  • The Bili Note repository.

Steps

  1. Ask the Agent to check the Bili Note environment and report whether public subtitles, web AI subtitles, Qwen3-ASR or Whisper fallback are available.

  2. The documented check runs the command below.

    Documented command
    python scripts/check_environment.py
  3. Use the reported route coverage to guide the extraction request.

Expected outcome

An environment report describing available subtitle, browser, transcription and related routes.

Guide limitations

  • The check reports environment capability; it does not itself extract a video or guarantee that a route will work for a particular item.
  • Optional routes depend on their own requirements, including browser login, FFmpeg or transcription backends.
