Practical overview
When it fits
Use the resolver package when an application needs DID documents for Ethereum addresses or public keys. Consider the registry package when working with the ERC-1056 contract that anchors did:ethr identities; treat the EIP-7702 material as a proof-of-concept example.
Who it is for
- Developers building decentralized-identity applications that need did:ethr resolution.
- Teams integrating Ethereum address- or public-key-based DID documents into a service.
- Developers exploring the ERC-1056 registry or the example's EIP-7702 interactions.
Documented uses
- Resolve a did:ethr identifier into a DID document.
- Add Ethereum address and public-key DID resolution to an identity application or service.
- Use the included ERC-1056 contract as the registry anchoring component for did:ethr identities.
- Explore the included EIP-7702 proof-of-concept example for interactions with ERC-1056.
Requirements & limits
The project is a public GitHub repository and specifies an Apache-2.0 license. Workspace development requires Node.js 20 or later and pnpm.
- The resolver, ERC-1056 contract, and EIP-7702 example are separate components with distinct roles.
- The EIP-7702 example is marked as a proof of concept and is not published as a package.
- The workspace README documents build, test, lint, and format commands but not application integration or contract deployment steps.
- The repository uses pnpm workspaces and builds CommonJS and ESM outputs.
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
Install the workspace and build its packages
Prepare the monorepo dependencies and run its documented package build.
Before you start
- Node.js 20 or later
- pnpm, using the version identified by the root packageManager field
Steps
Enable Corepack or install pnpm globally as described in the README.
Run
pnpm installfrom the workspace root to install dependencies.Run
pnpm buildfrom the workspace root to build every package in CommonJS and ESM formats.
Expected outcome
Workspace dependencies are installed and the README's build command is run for all packages.
Guide limitations
- The README's build instructions do not cover deploying the registry contract or integrating the resolver into an application.
