Understand the project

Practical overview

When it fits

Use SSV Network when building or integrating Ethereum staking workflows that distribute validator operations across independent operators.

Who it is for

  • Developers building Ethereum staking applications.
  • Teams integrating validator onboarding and cluster operations.
  • Operators interested in securing validator operations by running an SSV node.

Documented uses

  • Integrate validator and cluster operations using the TypeScript SDK.
  • Query indexed network data about clusters, operators and validators through the GraphQL subgraph.
  • Use SSV contracts and their addresses, ABIs and function references in an integration.
  • Follow documented validator workflows such as creating keys, registering validators, depositing ETH and exiting validators.
Before you choose

Requirements & limits

  • The documented ecosystem is Ethereum.
  • The protocol uses QBFT consensus and threshold signatures.
  • The developer resources include a TypeScript SDK, API, GraphQL subgraph and smart contracts.
  • The documentation identifies Hoodi as a testnet for testing validator flows and integrations.

Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.

Source-based practical guide

Prepare a validator onboarding integration with the SSV SDK

Initialize the SSV SDK with client objects as the documented starting point for onboarding a validator across four SSV operators.

Before you start

  • The SSV SDK package, @ssv-labs/ssv-sdk.
  • A publicClient and a walletClient.
  • Validator owner, operators, and keyShares values for the documented registration call.

Steps

  1. Import SSVSDK from @ssv-labs/ssv-sdk.

  2. Initialize it with new SSVSDK({ publicClient, walletClient }).

  3. Use the documented onboarding registration call shape: await ssv.cluster.register({ owner, operators, keyShares }).

Expected outcome

An initialized SDK instance and a documented call shape for registering a validator across four SSV operators.

Guide limitations

  • The documentation gives a registration example but does not specify how to obtain or configure the client objects, owner, operators, or key shares.
  • No execution result or successful test is reported.
