Practical overview
When it fits
Use Core when implementing Solana features in a Unity or .NET Standard 2.0 application and you want a C# library for RPC, wallet, transaction or selected program interactions.
Who it is for
- Unity developers adding Solana connectivity to games or other applications.
- .NET Standard 2.0 developers building clients that use Solana RPC, wallet or account features.
Documented uses
- Connect an application to Solana JSON-RPC and streaming JSON-RPC APIs.
- Generate wallets or work with wallet and account keys compatible with solana-keygen and sollet formats.
- Encode and decode transactions and messages, or decompile instructions.
- Integrate SPL token transfers and selected Native or SPL programs.
Requirements & limits
The repository is public and lists the MIT license.
- The stated framework requirement is .NET Standard 2.0.
- The README lists Chaos.NaCl.Standard and Portable.BouncyCastle as dependencies.
- Core is the library; the repository directs developers who want an installable Unity Package Manager version with examples to the separate Solana.Unity-SDK project.
- Program coverage is scoped to Native Programs and selected SPL programs; the repository points to separate projects for Serum, Mango, Pyth and Metaplex.
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
Create a wallet and retrieve an account
Initialize a Solana.Unity wallet from a mnemonic and obtain an account using the documented sollet-compatible derivation flow.
Before you start
- A project compatible with .NET Standard 2.0.
- A mnemonic and the library's wallet types.
Steps
Create a wallet with the mnemonic and
WordList.English.Retrieve an account with
wallet.GetAccount(index), using the desired derivation-path index.
Expected outcome
A wallet instance and an account retrieved by derivation-path index.
Guide limitations
- This flow is the sollet-compatible default; the documented solana-keygen flow does not support account retrieval by derivation-path index.
- The example uses placeholder mnemonic text; use an appropriate mnemonic for your application.
Generate a wallet from a new mnemonic
Generate a twelve-word English mnemonic and initialize a wallet from it.
Before you start
- A project compatible with .NET Standard 2.0.
- The library's
Mnemonic,WordList,WordCount, andWallettypes.
Steps
Create a mnemonic using
WordList.EnglishandWordCount.Twelve.Initialize a wallet using the generated mnemonic.
Expected outcome
A wallet initialized from a newly generated twelve-word English mnemonic.
Guide limitations
- The documented example does not describe persisting, backing up, or securing the generated mnemonic.
