Understand the project

Practical overview

When it fits

Use it when an evaluation needs a configurable, repeatable path from benchmark data through inference to metric reporting, rather than a single-score ranking.

Who it is for

  • Researchers evaluating model capabilities across benchmarks and metrics
  • Practitioners building repeatable model-evaluation workflows
  • Developers adapting data-processing, inference or scoring components

Documented uses

  • Run a predefined evaluation pipeline for a supported benchmark.
  • Configure custom data-processing, prompt-processing, inference and evaluation stages.
  • Assess model outputs with selected metrics and aggregate or visualize the results.
  • Save experiment outputs and results in organized log directories for comparison or reproduction.
Before you choose

Requirements & limits

The framework is published as a public GitHub repository under the Apache-2.0 license. The README describes pip and Conda installation; it says installation is tested for Unix/Linux and currently unsupported on Windows.

  • The framework is Python-based and installed from its repository using pip or Conda.
  • Model access is configured separately through model configurations, which can include API keys, Key Vault URLs and endpoints.
  • Optional local inference uses the Llama.cpp model class and requires llama-cpp-python.
  • The project provides predefined pipelines for selected benchmarks, while custom experiment configurations can arrange available components.
  • The README identifies Unix/Linux as tested and Windows as currently unsupported. The README describes GPU package installation as optional for self-hosted models on a GPU machine.

Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.

Source-based practical guide

Install the framework with pip for development

Prepare a local Python environment and install Eureka ML Insights in editable mode.

Before you start

  • A local copy of the GitHub repository
  • Python 3 and pip
  • Unix/Linux, as specified in the installation notes

Steps

  1. Clone the repository and navigate to its project directory.

  2. Create a virtual environment with the command below.

    Documented command
    python3 -m venv .venv
  3. Activate the virtual environment.

  4. Install the project with the command below.

    Documented command
    pip install -e .

Expected outcome

The framework is installed in editable mode in the active virtual environment.

Guide limitations

  • The README says installation is tested for Unix/Linux and is currently unsupported on Windows.
  • This covers installation only; it does not configure a model or run an evaluation.
Source-based practical guide

Run a predefined FlenQA experiment

Reproduce a configured FlenQA pipeline using the example OpenAI O1 model configuration.

Before you start

  • Eureka ML Insights installed in a local Python environment
  • The repository's FlenQA pipeline and model configuration
  • Any API keys, endpoints or other model-specific settings required by the chosen configuration

Steps

  1. Review eureka_ml_insights/user_configs/flenqa.py for the FlenQA_Experiment_Pipeline configuration.

  2. Review eureka_ml_insights/configs and configure model-specific credentials or endpoints as needed.

  3. Run the command below.

    Documented command
    python main.py --exp_config FlenQA_Experiment_Pipeline --model_config OAI_O1_CONFIG --exp_logdir openai_o1

Expected outcome

The configured experiment writes results beneath `logs/FlenQA_Experiment_Pipeline/openai_o1`, with a new dated and timed directory for each run.

Guide limitations

  • The example depends on the selected model configuration and any credentials or endpoints it requires.
  • The README does not establish that the example has been independently executed or that a particular environment will succeed.
