When it fits
Consider Opencex when you want exchange software to install and administer on your own server and can meet its infrastructure, credential and operational requirements.
Who it is for
- Teams intending to operate a self-hosted cryptocurrency exchange.
- Developers or system administrators able to manage a root-access Ubuntu server and configure exchange integrations.
Documented uses

- Provide order-book trading for the listed USDT pairs or a separate quick-swap interface.
- Connect optional transaction screening, KYC and SMS verification services using their credentials.
Requirements & limits
The repository describes the software as free and open source under Apache-2.0. Installation requires a root-access server; shared hosting is stated not to work.
- The project repository warns that it is not maintained and the code is provided as-is.
- Minimum listed server resources are 4 CPU cores, 16 GB RAM, 40 GB disk and Ubuntu 22.04.
- The setup depends on external credentials and deposit addresses; optional asset networks and verification services require their own credentials.
- Bitcoin Core synchronization can take up to 30 hours, and Bitcoin deposits are credited only after the node has fully synchronized.
- The published stack includes Docker, NGINX, Caddy, PostgreSQL, Redis, RabbitMQ, Python/Django, Vue.js/Nuxt.js and Bitcoin Core.
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
