Practical overview
When it fits
Use it when one OpenClaw agent is handling too many domains, parallel work needs a visible task structure, or agent responsibilities need to be separated across a messaging workspace.
Who it is for
- OpenClaw users building a coordinated team of specialized AI agents.
- Teams that want role-based agent work organized through Slack, Feishu or Discord.
- Builders who need separate planning, implementation, research or knowledge-maintenance roles.
Documented uses
- Deploy a domain-specialist OpenClaw team.
- Route role-specific work through channels, groups and threads.
- Coordinate planning, execution, review and user direction across agents.
- Capture reusable knowledge from agent work and maintain team configuration.
Requirements & limits
The repository is public and identifies an MIT license. Setup requires a working OpenClaw installation and a connected Slack, Feishu or Discord platform.
- OpenClaw is a prerequisite for the documented setup.
- Slack and Discord support thread-based task isolation; Feishu does not according to the repository guide.
- The default deployment uses one shared bot identity, while Feishu and Discord document independent-agent identity options.
- The minimum documented team is CoS, CTO and Builder; additional maintenance and specialist roles are optional.
- A2A v2 requires an independent Slack app for at least one key agent and relies on prompt-based coordination rules.
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
Set up an Opencrew team through a supported platform
Configure a minimal CoS, CTO and Builder team on Slack, Feishu or Discord using an existing OpenClaw installation.
Before you start
- A working OpenClaw installation.
- A connected Slack, Feishu or Discord platform.
- Platform credentials and channels or groups with the bot added.
- The Opencrew repository and its DEPLOY.md instructions.
Steps
Create the required channels or groups and map them to CoS, CTO and Builder roles.
Clone or locate the Opencrew repository and provide the selected platform credentials to OpenClaw without exposing them.
Ask OpenClaw to read DEPLOY.md and apply the Opencrew deployment as an incremental configuration change.
Allow the documented deployment flow to back up configuration, copy agent files, obtain channel IDs, merge configuration and restart.
Test the configured team in the selected platform as described by the repository.
Expected outcome
An OpenClaw-based team is configured with separate channels or groups for role-specific agent work.
Guide limitations
- The supplied documentation does not provide implementation details for each platform integration.
- Feishu does not support the documented thread-based task isolation.
- A2A coordination rules rely on prompts rather than system enforcement.
- The evidence documents setup and verification steps but does not establish a compatibility guarantee for other agent runtimes.
Compare options for Agent orchestration
These projects document a common task and share a project role. This is a source-based comparison, not an execution benchmark or a guarantee of interchangeability.
| Project | Documented purpose | Platform | Access and requirements |
|---|---|---|---|
| Opencrew | Deploy a domain-specialist OpenClaw team. | Cloud, Self-hosted, Server | The repository is public and identifies an MIT license. Setup requires a working OpenClaw installation and a connected Slack, Feishu or Discord platform. |
| Massgen | Run multiple AI agents against the same user task. | CLI | The repository documents installation through pip or uv and requires Python 3.11 or later. Setup can configure API keys for OpenAI, Anthropic, Google and xAI; credentials are needed for the selected model backends. |
| Langchain Multi Agents Boilerplate | Route incoming football questions to model and agent workflows according to task complexity. | Web | The repository is public and specifies an MIT license. Running the application requires OpenAI and Groq API keys and a Redis server. |
