Practical overview
When it fits
Use Swarms Cloud when the task is to move autonomous-agent code toward a managed, API-accessible service and coordinate publication, monitoring or licensing around it.
Who it is for
- Developers packaging autonomous agents as reusable services
- Businesses integrating agentic APIs into workflows
- Teams building agent catalogs or marketplace-based applications
- Operators planning cloud or self-hosted agent infrastructure
Documented uses
- Create agent definitions with code, requirements and environment values
- Publish agents through the Swarms CLI or project workflow
- Expose agents as agentic APIs for application integration
- Track API usage and performance through dashboard features
- Manage agent versions, pricing and licensing models
Requirements & limits
The repository is publicly accessible, active and released under the MIT license. The documented client workflow requires a SWARMS_API_KEY; the supplied material does not specify how keys are issued or whether particular cloud deployments are available.
- Python is the primary implementation language.
- The repository documents a client API for health checks, agent listing and agent creation.
- The project includes marketplace, dashboard, analytics, versioning and licensing concepts rather than only a local agent runtime.
- AWS, Azure and Google Cloud appear in the repository metadata, but provider-specific configuration is not shown in the supplied material.
- The README references execution and run operations without providing their endpoint specifications or a demonstrated result.
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
Set up a Python client and create an agent
Install the Swarms Cloud package, connect the client and submit an agent definition.
Before you start
- Python environment
- The swarms-cloud package
- A Swarms API key provided through the SWARMS_API_KEY environment variable
Steps
Install or upgrade the package with pip install -U swarms-cloud.
Import SwarmCloudAPI and AgentCreate, then initialize SwarmCloudAPI with the SWARMS_API_KEY environment variable.
Use the client to check API health and list agents.
Create an AgentCreate definition with a name, description, code, requirements, environment values and autoscaling setting, then submit it with create_agent.
Expected outcome
An agent definition is submitted through the Swarms Cloud client after the API connection and available agents have been checked.
Guide limitations
- The supplied example does not document API-key acquisition, endpoint details, deployment-provider configuration or a verified execution result.
- The example includes execution and run calls as commented code but does not explain their interfaces.
