Practical overview
When it fits
Use it during development of an Aleo application when wallet access needs to be exposed through modular TypeScript and React components.
Who it is for
- Developers building Aleo web applications.
- React teams that need wallet connection UI and adapter hooks.
- Application builders implementing Aleo signing, decryption, record or transaction-request flows.
Documented uses
- Add a wallet provider and wallet modal to an Aleo React application.
- Request signatures, decrypted payloads and wallet records.
- Construct and request Aleo transactions from an application.
- Request transaction status and transition view keys where the relevant permission is available.
Requirements & limits
The repository is public and identifies an MIT license. The documented setup uses npm packages and React.
- Choose the adapter components that match the application's architecture: base, React, React UI or Leo.
- A React UI setup requires the provider, modal provider, wallet adapter and stylesheet shown in the quick setup.
- Wallet-dependent examples check for a connected public key before proceeding.
- Transaction inputs must follow the Aleo program function's expected order.
- Transition view key requests require on-chain history permission.
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
Add the React wallet adapter layer to an Aleo app
Set up the documented wallet provider and React UI components for an Aleo application.
Before you start
- A React-based Aleo application.
- The base, React, React UI and Leo adapter packages, plus React, installed with npm.
- A wallet adapter network selection and a Leo wallet adapter configuration.
Steps
Install @demox-labs/aleo-wallet-adapter-base, @demox-labs/aleo-wallet-adapter-react, @demox-labs/aleo-wallet-adapter-reactui, @demox-labs/aleo-wallet-adapter-leo and react.
Import WalletProvider, WalletModalProvider, LeoWalletAdapter, DecryptPermission and WalletAdapterNetwork.
Create a LeoWalletAdapter instance, place it in the wallets collection, and configure WalletProvider with the wallets, decrypt permission, network and autoConnect settings.
Wrap the application's components with WalletModalProvider and include the React UI stylesheet.
Expected outcome
The application has the documented provider and modal structure for integrating an Aleo wallet through the React adapter components.
Guide limitations
- The example is a setup pattern and does not demonstrate a completed integration result.
- The selected network and wallet configuration must match the application's intended Aleo environment.
