Practical overview
When it fits
Use BUA when a Go application needs an AI agent to interpret and perform multi-step website tasks instead of relying on manually maintained selectors. The repository directly demonstrates passing a natural-language task to agent.Run.
Who it is for
- Go developers building AI-powered browser workflows
- Teams creating internal tools that interact with websites
- Developers exploring natural-language browser testing or research automation
Documented uses
- Turn a plain-English website request into agent-run browser actions
- Automate product search and comparison workflows
- Gather information from live web pages through an agent
- Build Go services that delegate browser actions to an AI agent
Requirements & limits
The repository is public and lists an MIT license. The documented setup requires Go 1.25 or newer, Chrome or Chromium, and a Gemini API key.
- Go is the implementation language and the documented installation uses the Go package.
- Gemini is required by the documented quick-start configuration.
- Chrome or Chromium is a setup prerequisite.
- Headless mode, screenshots, browser profiles, viewport settings and model selection are exposed through configuration.
- The repository documents Chrome DevTools Protocol and Google ADK among the technical components.
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
Set up a Go browser agent for a natural-language task
Create and start a BUA agent, then submit a plain-English browser task.
Before you start
- Go 1.25 or newer
- Chrome or Chromium installed
- A Gemini API key
- A Go project using github.com/anxuanzi/bua
Steps
Install the package with go get github.com/anxuanzi/bua.
Create a bua.Config with the Gemini API key and construct the agent with bua.New.
Create a context, call agent.Start, and submit a natural-language request through agent.Run.
Read the returned result fields and close the agent when finished.
Expected outcome
A Go program receives the documented agent result, including success status, step count and duration.
Guide limitations
- The documented evidence does not establish which websites, actions or authentication flows are supported beyond the examples.
- The repository example uses Gemini and requires a Gemini API key.
