Practical overview
When it fits
Use Solnet when a project needs Solana integration inside a C#/.NET application and the required functionality fits its documented RPC, wallet, encoding, token or program coverage.
Who it is for
- C# and .NET developers building Solana-enabled applications
- Teams adding Solana RPC, wallet, account or transaction features to software
- Developers creating Solana transaction inspection or decoding tools
Documented uses
- Read Solana data through JSON-RPC or streaming JSON-RPC
- Create and manage wallets and accounts compatible with Phantom or solana-keygen
- Encode and decode Solana transactions and messages
- Integrate documented Native and SPL programs into a .NET application
- Store keys, seeds and mnemonics with the keystore utilities
Requirements & limits
The public repository is open source under the MIT license. The README recommends .NET 8.0 or later and lists .NET 6.0 as deprecated.
- Choose the relevant NuGet packages rather than installing every component: RPC, wallet, programs, extensions and keystore utilities are listed separately.
- Check whether the required Solana program is within the repository's documented Native and SPL coverage.
- Wallet compatibility includes Phantom and solana-keygen, which may matter when importing or deriving accounts.
- The SDK supports both transaction and message encoding and decoding in base64 and wire formats.
- Applications that need integrations referenced outside the core repository may need the separately listed repositories.
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
Add Solana RPC and wallet packages to a .NET project
Set up the documented Solnet packages needed for RPC access and wallet functionality.
Before you start
- A .NET project using .NET 8.0 or later; .NET 6.0 is listed as deprecated.
- The .NET CLI.
Steps
Add the Solana.Rpc package for RPC and streaming RPC functionality.
Add Solana.Programs if the application needs the documented program integrations.
Add Solana.Wallet for wallets and keys.
Add Solana.Extensions or Solana.Keystore when token helpers or keystore utilities are required.
Expected outcome
The project has the selected Solnet packages installed for the corresponding Solana integration tasks.
Guide limitations
- The package list describes installation and package roles, but this setup recipe does not verify a working project or network connection.
- The repository focuses on Native and SPL programs; other integrations are referenced in separate repositories.
