Practical overview
When it fits
Use it when you need a self-hosted process that reacts to one target Hyperliquid wallet’s fills and applies explicit sizing and risk rules.
Who it is for
- Developers who can run a Node.js CLI or server process
- Hyperliquid users who want to mirror a selected wallet or vault
- Traders evaluating copy-trading behaviour through dry-run or testnet modes
Documented uses
- Monitor a target Hyperliquid wallet for fill events
- Mirror position openings, reductions and closures
- Scale copied positions using account equity and a size multiplier
- Apply leverage, asset, order-size and concurrent-trade limits
- Evaluate a configuration through dry-run or testnet workflows
Requirements & limits
The repository is public and MIT-licensed. The documented setup requires Node.js 18+, a Hyperliquid account, a private key and a target wallet address.
- It is self-hosted and CLI-oriented, so operation depends on configuring and running the repository.
- The demonstrated monitoring model uses one target wallet; multi-target support is marked Requires modification.
- Dry-run and testnet support are explicitly documented, but their exact configuration and execution limits are not detailed in the supplied material.
- Risk controls include a size multiplier, equity-based sizing, leverage caps, blocked assets, minimum notional and maximum concurrent trades.
- The README states that Hyperliquid orders have a roughly $10 minimum notional and that leverage must be set per coin before placing orders.
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
Set up a testnet dry-run copy-trading workflow
Prepare the bot to monitor a target Hyperliquid wallet while logging simulated actions.
Before you start
- Node.js 18 or newer
- A Hyperliquid testnet or mainnet account
- A target wallet address
- The repository and its .env.example file
Steps
Clone the repository and change into its directory.
Copy .env.example to .env.
Set PRIVATE_KEY, TARGET_WALLET and TESTNET in .env; use TESTNET=true and DRY_RUN=true for the documented testnet simulation path.
Install dependencies with npm install.
Start the bot with npm start.
Expected outcome
The bot loads its configuration, connects to Hyperliquid, monitors target-wallet fills and logs actions instead of placing real orders when dry-run is enabled.
Guide limitations
- The evidence does not describe the exact limits or configuration behaviour of dry-run mode.
- This recipe documents setup and the stated workflow; it is not a verification of execution.
