Practical overview
When it fits
Use it when an application needs a documented TypeScript and viem integration with Polymarket's CLOB, including wallet authentication and programmatic order workflows.
Who it is for
- TypeScript developers integrating with Polymarket's Central Limit Order Book
- Builders creating automated trading bots or market-order services
- Teams developing trading dashboards or account-data monitors
Documented uses
- Create or derive API credentials with a wallet signature
- Place GTC limit orders
- Submit FOK or FAK market orders denominated in USDC
- Cancel orders and access account data
- Retrieve an order book for a market token
Requirements & limits
The repository is public and identifies an MIT license. The documented authenticated flow requires a wallet signer and API credentials for order placement, cancellation and account data.
- The SDK uses two authentication levels: EIP-712 wallet signing for API-key creation or derivation, followed by HMAC API credentials for authenticated CLOB actions.
- The examples support Polygon and list Polygon Amoy as a testnet option; the supplied material does not verify market availability or deployment details.
- GTC limit orders require a token ID, price, side, size and tick-size configuration, while market orders use a USDC amount and FOK or FAK semantics.
- By default, API errors are returned as objects; throwOnError can be used to handle them as ApiError exceptions.
- The repository metadata identifies TypeScript usage and an MIT license.

Set up an authenticated Polymarket CLOB client
Install the TypeScript package and initialize a client with wallet-based and API credentials.
Before you start
- A TypeScript project
- @polymarkets/clob-client-v2 and viem
- A wallet account and HTTP transport
- A CLOB host
- Polygon or Polygon Amoy chain selection
Steps
Install @polymarkets/clob-client-v2 and viem.
Create a wallet client with viem and a wallet account.
Initialize ClobClient with the host, selected chain and wallet signer.
Call createOrDeriveApiKey to obtain API credentials.
Initialize a second ClobClient with the signer and the returned credentials for L1 and L2 authentication.
Expected outcome
A fully authenticated ClobClient instance is configured for the documented authenticated operations.
Guide limitations
- The setup examples do not verify market availability or deployment details.
- The private key and API credential values must be supplied by the implementer.
