Practical overview
When it fits
Use it when a Python-based workflow needs automated model selection and training across supported data-science tasks, particularly tabular prediction, forecasting or multimodal prediction.
Who it is for
- Data scientists building predictive models.
- Python developers creating machine-learning applications.
- Teams working with structured data, time series, images, text or multimodal inputs.
Documented uses
- Train predictive models with limited code.
- Automate model and ensemble selection.
- Build time-series forecasting workflows.
- Develop computer-vision, NLP and multimodal model-training workflows.
- Apply hyperparameter optimization during model development.
Requirements & limits
The repository is public and licensed under Apache-2.0. Installation is documented for Python 3.10–3.13 on Linux, macOS and Windows, with additional guidance for GPU and Conda installations.
- The main interface is a Python library rather than a hosted no-code application.
- Different tasks use different predictors, including TabularPredictor, TimeSeriesPredictor and MultiModalPredictor.
- The documented installation path is pip, with optional dependencies and GPU guidance available separately.
- Automated model selection can reduce manual algorithm and hyperparameter choices.
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
