Practical overview
When it fits
Use Solana Go when a Go application needs direct interaction with Solana RPC or WebSocket services, including blockchain data access, transaction workflows or selected program integrations.
Who it is for
- Go developers building Solana applications
- Backend developers integrating Solana data or transactions
- Teams creating self-hosted developer utilities for the Solana ecosystem
Documented uses
- Query Solana through the full JSON-RPC API
- Consume Solana WebSocket JSON streams
- Construct, inspect and submit transactions
- Decode instructions and use documented Solana, SPL and Metaplex integrations
Requirements & limits
The repository is public and licensed under Apache-2.0. Its installation documentation requires Go 1.25 or later. No hosted pricing or account requirement is documented.
- Choose it when the application is written in Go and needs Solana JSON-RPC or WebSocket access.
- Review the documented feature checklist because support varies across native, SPL and Metaplex programs.
- Use the main v1 branch as the documented recommended default unless the v2 changes are specifically required.
- Plan for API changes because the project describes itself as actively developed and unaudited.
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
Add Solana Go to a Go project

- A Go project directory
Steps
Change into the project directory.
Run the command below.
go get github.com/gagliardetto/solana-go@latestUse the repository documentation to select the documented v1 default or investigate the opt-in v2 release candidate before changing versions.
Expected outcome
The Solana Go library is added to the project for development against Solana RPC and WebSocket interfaces.
Guide limitations
- The project states that its APIs are subject to change.
- The documentation describes v2 as an opt-in release candidate with breaking API cleanups.
