Practical overview
When it fits
Use Graphify when repository context is distributed across code and technical documents and an AI coding workflow would benefit from explicit, queryable relationships.
Who it is for
- Developers using AI coding assistants
- Teams exploring unfamiliar repositories
- Users needing structured relationships across code and project documentation
Documented uses
- Map a codebase and related project artifacts
- Query relationships between source code, documentation, schemas and configurations
- Explore architecture through an interactive graph
- Provide a structured retrieval layer for AI coding workflows
- Support dependency and impact analysis
Requirements & limits
The repository is public, open source and licensed under Apache-2.0. It is presented as a CLI and self-hosted developer tool. No account requirement, pricing or general service availability is documented for the repository tool.
- Whether the coding workflow uses one of the documented supported assistants
- Whether local deterministic AST parsing is useful for the project
- Whether graph relationships are preferable to a vector-store retrieval approach
- Whether project context includes documentation, SQL schemas, configurations or PDFs
- Whether semantic processing of non-code materials through an assistant model or configured API key fits the workflow
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
Install Graphify and register its coding-assistant skill
Set up the Graphify CLI and register the /graphify skill with an AI coding assistant.
Before you start
- A Python tool environment supporting the documented installation method.
- A supported AI coding assistant, including Claude Code, Cursor, Codex or Gemini CLI.
Steps
Install the CLI with the command below or
pipx install graphifyy.uv tool install graphifyyRun
graphify installto register the skill with the AI coding assistant. In the assistant, invoke
/graphify .for the project directory.
Expected outcome
Graphify generates a graph.html view, GRAPH_REPORT.md, and graph.json in a graphify-out directory.
Guide limitations
- The evidence does not specify operating-system requirements.
- The evidence does not document the full behavior of each listed assistant integration.
- Semantic processing for documents and other non-code media uses the assistant’s model or a configured API key.
